FOUR RHYTHM AND EAR-TRAINING CLASSES
A new approach for learning music fundamentals with John Cooper
singing drumming movement

TIME: Saturdays 10-11:30 / Sundays 4-5:30
DURATION: Each class is 45 minutes (one ½ hour per session)
COST: $25 per class $80 for the four classes payable in advance.

Rhythm (first 45
minutes)
1. Learning the basic
takadimi language. 2. Keeping a basic
foundation beat while
moving from slower to
faster rhythmic
groupings: (quarters
to eights to
sixteenths, etc.).
3. Applying takadimi
language to melodic
phrasing by going
beyond linear number
counting (number
counting is applicable
for keeping track of
beats within measures.)
Ear-training (second
45 minutes)
1. Learning and
applying in a new way
the basic solfeggio
language – do re mi’s.
2. Contrasting
consonance with
dissonance through
singing melodies.
3. Working with Tonal
Motifs, the grouping
of three notes that
move from consonance
to dissonance to
consonance.

Performance, analysis and discussion of musical expression and technique in between students and teacher. $20

Composition Lessons with John Cooper (by audition)

are studied. Musicianship classes will be recommended as
needed for student's development.

Musicales are held every four to six weeks. Paramita
students perform for their
parents and friends. Because Paramita is interested in
developing a well rounded artistic experience
for the students, guest
artists in theatre, dance and literature are invited from time to
time.
Paramita Chamber
Ensemble includes percussion, piano, voice, and what other
instruments the students may play. The ensemble is linked to the
musicianship classes. It provides practical and community
participation by which the students learn from each other. The
Ensemble performs in musicales, churches, other venues are anticipated.
